With the continuous development of economic globalization, container transportation has become an important way of cargo transportation, but the flue gas produced by container engine units in the production process causes great pollution to the environment. This paper mainly discusses the importance of flue gas treatment of container engine units and its treatment technology and future development trend.
Container engine units will produce nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), but also contain sulfur oxides (SOx) and hydrocarbons and other harmful substances, these substances will not only pose a threat to human health, but also cause serious pollution to the atmospheric environment, will lead to the production of acid rain, the formation of haze. Effective control of flue gas of container engine units is an urgent need to protect the environment and people’s health.
For the container engine flue gas treatment technology, we are divided into: selective catalytic reduction technology, desulfurization technology, particulate matter capture technology, oxidation catalysis (DOC) technology. Among them, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology uses ammonia to react with NOx in flue gas under the action of catalyst to generate nitrogen and water vapor to reduce NOx emissions. This can achieve a high denitrification effect. Particulate capture technology typically uses diesel particulate filters to capture solid particles in the exhaust, and DPF can effectively intercept small particles and remove accumulated particles through a periodic regeneration process. Under the action of the catalyst, the DOC technology is used to oxidize carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons in the flue gas to carbon dioxide and water vapor, thereby reducing the emission of harmful gases.
With the increasingly strict environmental requirements of the country, the flue gas treatment of container engine units will be more effective, economic and environmental protection. Strengthening the customization and implementation of emission standards, encouraging the development of new environmentally friendly engines, implementing green environmental protection plans, and developing intelligent control systems will bring new breakthroughs for flue gas management.
