Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are produced during operation of container-type gas generating units. Nitrogen oxides are pollutants generated during combustion of internal combustion engines and gas turbines due to high temperature and the presence of flue gas, mainly including nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO₂).

The fuel used by gas generator sets is usually natural gas or other types of gas, which are prone to the formation of nitrogen oxides during the combustion process, especially under oxygen-rich and high temperature conditions. However, compared to diesel or gasoline generators, gas generators usually produce a lower concentration of nitrogen oxides, so the rate of nitrogen oxide production when natural gas is burned is lower. During the operation of the container generator set, due to the high temperature and sufficient oxygen in the combustion process, it is easy to produce a relatively high concentration of NOx, which not only poses a threat to the environment, but also limits the wide application of the generator set.
